This website is a treasure trove of instruction material for the aspiring fingerstyle guitarist as well as a wonderful source of archival films (Vestopol Videos).
The 1rst Acoustic Alaska Guitar Camp was quite a success. We get to make available some of the best guitar instruction in a beautiful setting. Instructors for the second camp are David Wilcox, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, and Doug Cox.
I stopped by the small shop, on a whim, several years ago for a tour. I knew on leaving that I had found the right team to make the guitar I wanted and needed. I play the Santa Cruz FS model, a guitar made specifically for fingerstyle playing … an amazing and sublime instrument.
I was looking for a guitar I could play both pickstyle and fingerstyle on. Having played many Lowden guitars I loved and being familiar with Jacques Stotzem’s music, I had a sneaking suspicion this new company could deliver exactly what I was looking for. I play the Jacques Stotzem model from the Legacy Series … an outstanding instrument.

I love this little outfit. They love acoustic guitars and it shows. I’ve known Mike Fleck, who does the building and repairs, for over ten years. He’s the only person in Alaska I’ll let work on my guitars. The Guitar Shop has been around less than a year and already the demand has them looking for a new, larger location. Oh, and by the way, they now carry Santa Cruz Guitars!!!
I always keep finding my way back to Bert’s music.
I got into Duck’s music very early on. His eclecticism is astounding. He continues to be one of my favorites. Duck’s web presence is almost nonexistent, but his recordings are well worth tracking down.
Tim is a fearless explorer of musics, from his North Carolina roots thru jazz and classical to South American, Balkan/East European, Middle Eastern and Jewish music, he never ceases to amaze me.
George Sikat put together the video on this site. He did an incredible job and I look forward to working with him again.
Whistling Swan Productions is a treasure. I am truly in awe & inspired by the work that Mike McCormick & co. does in bringing the best in acoustic music to Alaska.
